2011 Compilation

The following entries were originally posted individually in 2011.  I've combined them here so the story is in order.

It's Getting Windy Out There....

I remember her at age 5....bubbly, blonde, always babbling.  She adored her mother and I treasured her.

I remember her in elementary school....bright, curious, always wanting to learn more.  She looked to me for answers and I tried to keep up with her ever expanding brain.

I remember her excitedly coming home from the first day of school and every day thereafter with stories to tell about her day.  From the very  minute she got there to the bus ride home she absorbed it all like the little sponge she was, always eager to share each of those moments with me.  She delighted me, enchanted me, filled me with joy that God had blessed me with her very existence.

I remember her in my heart...the love, the bond we always shared to the exclusion of anyone else, my pride in her accomplishments, looking towards the future and knowing that it was wide open to anything she reached for, anything she desired, anything at all.

Sometimes, while skipping down that yellow brick road, a choice must be made.   Whether it's a conscious decision or not, a choice is made to take the scenic route instead of the path that's been thought and dreamed about for years.  Sometimes.....that's just what happens in life.  The bubbly little girl takes a few wrong turns, maybe gets lost in the brambles, weeds and overgrown forest and eventually, thankfully, is found again.  As she once again purposefully marches down the chosen path towards her goals, dreams and her bright, bright future, out of the corner of her eye, she glimpses a flower filled meadow and decides to take just a minute, only the briefest of moments to lie down to rest amidst the blooms.  As the sun shines brightly. gentle breezes soothing her soul, the flowers' glorious scents intermingle bringing joy that begs to be shared with another.  As they romp and play within their private playground, they fail to see the first little black rain cloud heading their way, ignore the quickening of the wind, it's voice engulfing them, swirling amongst them....trying and ever trying to warn them of the coming storm.

The Wind Is Silent Now...

Thunder crashed and lightening flashed.  The blooms tucked their delicate heads, leaving their tender necks exposed.  The wind, louder and louder, it's terrible power screeching out warnings, now adds leaves, twigs and dust to the cast, beating the two, demanding to be heard.  The wind begins to laugh, the clouds skitter and fly across the sky in their gaiety, the lightening and thunder boom out their mirth displaying their true nature.  The precious petals blacken, wither and fall.  The two, startled, awaken, are suddenly and without warning, shaken violently from their bliss.  The meadow, once so beautiful to the eye, so glorious to the heart, reverts to what it ever was.  Unseen, hidden beneath the beauty, it's true face is revealed to the two.  As before in time, as ever has been and ever will be, the exhilarating beauty is stripped away, once again only a facade, hiding the truth of this place.  The two, confused and conflicted, spin away from each other, grasping for understanding, gasping in shock, reeling with disbelief.  How can this be, they ask each other? Why us?  They demand an answer from the wind, but the wind, having tried so desperately to convey it's warnings, is silent now refusing to answer.  She screams to the sky.....But I was marching along my path, purposely and with conviction, (she adds), forgetting her decision to rest in the beautiful meadow for only the briefest of moments, forgetting that detour that lured her away from her march.  Forgetting.....the beauty they experienced, the joy they created, now focused solely on regret and shame.  Heads down, shoulders slumped, sniffling, they shuffle slowly down the new path before them.

 Our Love...

As the two take their first tentative steps down their new path, let's turn our attention momentarily to those who love them.  Those who have marvelled over their first words, cheered their first steps, wiped tears and bottoms, now find themselves floundering in the aftermath of the storm.  As the wind whipped the two, those who love them, entered the fray, using their weapons of warmth and love in an attempt to shelter them from the raging storm.  Their embrace, so successful in protecting them once, fails to conquer the wind.  Their kisses cannot heal these wounds.  The lion stumbles, then falls in defeat.  Her mighty heart, slashed into bits, lies upon the memory of what could of been..

Quit Looking At Me...

It starts with just the slightest glance out of the corner of an eye, first one, then the other, then just as quickly, their eyes dart away, looking at anything but each other.  They stumble along their new path, together, but not, very separate even though the path is narrow and their arms about touch. Trees along each side of the path crowd and push them together, but they aren't yet ready, the wall between them, unseen, is too thick.  The wind has nothing to say now and has gone off to play elsewhere.  The forest is too dense to glimpse any flowers, any beauty at all.  Infinite darkness surrounds them, they are blind, but must continue lurching forward, as going back to the beautiful meadow, is not an option.  One stumbles, the other, involuntarily, reaches out, but is burned and jumps back.  In the midst of the inky blackness, sparks fly as the two rage.  On and on they tear at each other, banging heads against trees, the ground, each other.  Exhausted, their mighty hearts, slashed into bits, lie upon the memory of what could of been..  Unable to come together to accept their new path and move forward, they turn their backs to each other and mourn alone.

 The Sun Is Waiting...

The two...battered and beaten, lie within the dark forest, overwhelmed with raging, swirling thoughts.  What might have been, what will be missed, each blaming the other, each belting the other with their rage, each blasting the other with their hatred of the other and of the situation they have blundered into, not blindly, but without forethought either.  They can't stay in this place, can't simply wish it away, can't, can't, can't, no amount of begging, pleading, wishing or praying will undo what the storm has wrought.  So very weak, the wind pushes and buffets them and they stumble slowly forward, crawling, neither able to gather the strength to rise up, neither able to raise their head to see the small glint of sunshine ahead of them, beckoning them, it's sunshiny smile waiting, still waiting, to embrace them in it's warmth and love.  But the glint is unseen by the two, darkness still owns them, is still deeply inside them, around them, in every pore, every breath.  The sun ever patient waits, knowing it and only it can battle back the darkness.

 May We Come In?

Squirrels chattered, perched on the highest limbs, leaves drifted down slowly in the soft, warm breeze, sunlight danced in the small puddles left behind by the recent storm as others stood in the forest just off the path.  Within sight of the two, but standing outside the maelstrom that consumed them, their arms outstretched to enfold, their faces contorted with concern, love, sorrow, they waited, desperately wanting to soothe, but unseen, unheard, merely part of the background.  As crows roused from their boughs over head, they squawk and cry at each other as the mammoth wall built between them and the two is too high, too strong, too impenetrable, for even the loudest shouts to be heard, whispers floating away with the breeze.  They wait for even the tiniest crack in the armament, they search in vain for the long lost key to the padlock that will release the chains, they bloody their knuckles pounding against the tall black door.  The very essence of them demands to be heard, then begs (no pleads) to console, they cry, sobbing uncontrollably until there is no sound left in them, until they fall, exhausted, numbly to the ground.  The wall, as impenetrable as ever, the tall black door firmly locked with chains and a padlock, they must wait, hoping the two will open the door and ask them in.

Dry on the deck....joyful splashing from the pool has ceased
Where quiet was sometimes yearned for, the silence of laughing, giggling and even screaming is  deafening
What's for dinner asked for the last time, cooking for two holds no joy
Wally, Ninja Turtles, Mutt & Stuff and all our friends in the Paw Patrol have faded away

I am so proud, as I mourn your absence

Knowing it's right, done for all the right reasons, yet your adulting fills me with sorrow
Knowing you've got this when even you don't
Knowing you're strong when you feel weak
Knowing your future has been built on the foundation of your past
Knowing I am only your mother, believing in you even when you can't believe in yourself

Wishing you the very best as tears stream down my face

Drip, Drip, Drip

Ping, ding, thwatt, splatt, knock, smack, attacked, duck, run, find cover.  Found. Kick, pound, smack again and again, pull, scratch, thrown over there and there and there too.  Arrows zip here, out there.  Stung.

Drip, drip, drip, eyes leak.  warning, warning....A flood's a comin....

Pulled hither, pushed thither.  Demanding Energy.  Demanding Time.  Expecting Understanding.  Expecting Every Single Drop.  Expecting It All and Then Some More Too.  Give it, give it, give it....gimmeeeeeeee............

Dam bursts. Rushing, roaring, surging, coursing over banks, trees, branches, rocks deeply hidden from view all together now..........SHOT.

Silence.

Purged.

Regret.

Guilt stricken.

Pain.

Giving, giving, giving.

Comments Always Welcome!

Anonymous posted a question recently asking if I minded comments on my posts.  I love comments, so please, please if anyone wishes to comment, do so to your heart's content.

Be kind though, ok?  I can be fragile!!

I Am Woman!! Lol

Was married in June of 1990, separated since February 14, 2008 and today....today May 10, 2013, I am an official bonafide divorcee.  Yippeekiyyayaye!!  It's definitely been a long time coming.  While I have mixed emotions, even after all this time, I am relieved it's over, it's done and...I'm fine, I am better than fine, I made it through a terrible time and am better for it, stronger than I thought I could ever be.  Only I walked in my particular shoes, yes, they are plum worn out, but not me...could of kept on going barefoot if I had to. My feet though rough and scaly, never faltered, never failed my children or myself.

Stiff and achy, I reach behind me and give myself a big ole pat on the back.

I did it.  I made it.  I'm better for it.  With a giggle and a smile, I skip, leaving the past behind, eyes fully fixed on my future.

Seems like maybe it's time for that pedicure now.  Whatcha think??

Please Pull Me Out

These days, there seems to always be a tear just waiting to fall.

These days, I feel alone even though I rarely am.

Each day, I recite the many blessings in my life and am thankful, but they are never enough to pull me out of the pit of despair where I now live.  Perhaps my pain is just too heavy.

Yesterday, I wasn't understood, felt unloved and alone.

Today,  I suffer from the lack of sleep.

Tomorrow, maybe the sun will shine upon the neon green grasses.  Perhaps the lilac will burst open releasing its lovely scent.

Tomorrow, I hope to once again find the strength I need to put one foot in front of the other....

You Sat

You sat.
Through first steps, first words, first dates and all the firsts, seconds, thirds in between and after, you sat.
Uninterested and apart, your daughters, flowers rising from the earth grew and grew, danced in the breezes, lifted their lovely heads to the sun while you sat.
When the dishes in the sink toppled to the floor, the laundry discussed running away, the weedy yard waited for attention, you sat.
The mountain of trash, growing daily, left for others to discard, because you were way too busy sitting to climb that particular hill.
Your daughters, in trouble, needing you, watched you rise up from that recliner in amazement and delight, dancing excitedly, only to see you walk away with another, never caring and never looking back.  Heads bowed, pretending not to care, pretending there is no more room for pain, hands slowly drop while their eyes, their bewildered eyes, watch you walk away, wondering, ever wondering, why.

As you sat and sat and sat, one rose up, became strong and dedicated to those two little girls.  Loved them forever and always.  Through utter, complete, mind numbing exhaustion, always and forever put them first.

As you sat and sat and sat, I did the best I could, all alone.  Sitting on merry-go-rounds, sitting on the ground examining those living under our feet, sitting in auditoriums to witness rites of passage, sitting on sidelines watching softball and cheer leading, sitting on the beach feeling the breeze, listening to the surf and the gulls, sitting at the kitchen table talking about anything and everything, sitting in emergency rooms in the middle of the night waiting on breathing treatments or IVs.  Yes, I sat and sat and sat.....loving each and every moment sitting with those I love.

Late at night in the dark shadows, in whispers, I've heard stories of those who change, those who learn from the past, evolve into better people.  Many have made such a claim, few have actually achieved a true makeover without globs on their faces, always leaving their souls untouched.

To the flowers who were left behind, any change has been unseen and worse yet, not ever felt, but yet, they bloom bigger, better, brighter leaving the one who sat.....far behind.

I did my best...

I have finally accepted the truth.....It was inevitable as I'm told in many ways each and everyday.  It was only a matter of time before I stopped fighting this truth.....I have failed as a mother.  I have raised a child who cannot, will not, won't, stomp your feet and scream NO to the heavens ever appreciate all I've done for her.  Oh...maybe when she's calm, well rested and fed, I will get some small bone thrown my way telling me that my life was worthwhile.  But when she's uptight, nervous and the heavens don't align themselves perfectly for her, heaven forbid, the daggers casually thrown in my direction seemingly without a thought or care of the devastation they will cause....collapsing in a puddle, flailing, drowning in buckets of tears, regret, sorrow, breathing but barely, nose clogged, throat aching, pain from the very top of my head down through my soul to the very tip of my pinkie toe.

As mothers everywhere have said....I did my best.

I dig....

Imagine a long road.
Now imagine it is the darkest dark of any dark you've ever seen.
And imagine that you are alone and blind.
In front, you feel the road stretching onwards and onwards never to end.,
Behind is unimaginable beauty and love that stabs you over and over and over again.
Collapsing, alone and spent on the darkest of dark roads you see normal, everyday happenings occurring all around you.
Confused and angered, you rage at those around you...
Don't you know?
Can't you see?
How could you?
Why don't you understand?  Why are you still moving forward?
Why am I alone in my pain.........my grief?

Grief, a deep well that requires each to dig alone, gradually unearthing and remembering the beauty that lies beneath the dark, oozing, sweltering ache of the most permanent of loss.

Rest in Peace, Missy Dog.  You will be loved and remembered forever.   I know that in time, I will be able to rejoice and smile at our shared memories, but for now.....I still dig....

A Beginning, But of What?

Pebbles, dirt, twigs and unknown things glint for a moment in the sun before drifting down, down, down into the darkness surrounding me.  Weakened, I barely notice, can no longer move my head.   A bit more debris goes unnoticed amongst the rest.  Eyes dimming as pain hammers relentlessly. adamantly pounding, ferociously, frenziedly tearing into the remains of what once glittered, sparkling with radiance.

A fall day balloon floats through quickly, no strength, can't hold on, gone.

Darkness.

Is that you, Clarence?

Words shot, scalding hot
Wounds with no blood appear

I sometimes question my faith, wondering if God truly does exist or is just a lovely story passed down from our ancestors meant to soothe during thunderstorms, help during bad times, cry out to when we have no one else willing to listen.  I wasn't thinking of God this morning when the darkness descended upon my home, I wasn't thinking of anything of importance, really.  Waiting to hear from the transporter on whether my new mini mare would be delivered today or tomorrow, watching a little of Sunday Morning on TV, checking FaceBook to see if the world had survived another night and if my friends were ok.  Nothing really, sipping my coffee, just enjoying my Sunday morning.

I often think of Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ when normal gets swept away by tornado force winds, when your hair begins to slap you in the face, when you wonder which is up, where is down.  Unexpected, abrupt, nowhere in my cards scalding hot words stab, then pierce the soul of me.  You've all heard the saying that once hurtful words are out there, there is no bringing them back, right?  The other part, often left unsaid, is that the target often cannot forget those words.  Yes, forgiveness will come, but forgetting, sorry, just won't happen!

Anyway, we were talking about God.  Eager for a quick escape, I limped from the site of the battle, convinced that doing errands would be safer.  We weren't quite ready for the full grocery run to Walmart, so went to the Dollar Store to pick up milk and cereal.  An older gentleman was speaking to the cashier when I was ready to check out.  The gentleman pulled his truck over as I was loading my car and asked if I wanted some corn on the cob.  My first response was, no thanks, I have no cash.  I normally use my card for purchases and rarely have cash in my wallet.  The man shook his head and smiled at me, telling me there was no charge.  He got out of his truck and started filling a grocery bag with corn and then asked if I wanted the tomatoes too.  I'm guessing his name was Clarence, but will probably never know.  I believe with all my heart and my pierced soul that he was an angel.  His goodness, sharing and light while not wanting a thing at all from me, convinced me that God, seeing my pain, sent down one of his angels to comfort me.  Now, you can believe what you want.  Yep.....maybe he was just a good man who had a bountiful garden this year and just couldn't eat one more ear of corn, maybe God had nothing to do with it at all.  I believe that at that time in that parking lot, God wrapped his goodness around me in the form of a man with too much corn on his hands.

My lunch today was two ears of that hot delicious corn dripping in butter.

The sun will come back...tomorrow?

Rain hammers the ground, bouncing back to the sky as it hits.  Thunder deepens, screaming in it's hoarse voice.  Furious strikes of Lightening whip all it encounters.  Wind joins the fray, spinning hysterically.  His strength claiming all, overwhelming all, none stronger, none safe.

Mother Earth convulses from deep within, sending out her army of geysers, volcanoes, quaking in fear, no escape to be found.  Sun retreating from this battle, nervously peaking out from behind his blanket of clouds.

The smallest tuck their heads and tails, scrambling to safety, burrowing into Mother Earth's mantle, dashing under bushes, diving deeper and even deeper into oceans, lakes, creeks.   Hoping, wishing, praying to endure this war that has mercilessly seized them.

Turducken

I seem to be a misery writer.  No, not related to Stephen King's book Misery at all, but instead, I only seem to be able to write when I'm unhappy, stressed and yes, miserable.  Perhaps, writing allows me to take out each piece of individual misery, expose it to the sunlight for examination and then poof....make it go away.  If you were to look through my windows into my soul, you wouldn't see anything in particular to be miserable about.  I have a wonderful life...people who have not only looked into my windows, but dove through them upon occasion, yanking out the weeds that grow in the darkness, the flowers now able to grow in the sun, all because they love me.  I have miniature horses back in my life.  Oh how those three blonde fillies make me smile with their cavorting, picking on each other like sisters.  I imagine them saying...."mine, mine mine", "stop touching me" and "mommmm...she's looking at me" before they gallop off together.  Magic's 31" majestic beauty, gold glinting on overcast days; Lolli, the sweet, has discovered the apple trees, foregoing dinner to scrounge on the ground for fallen apples; Cadie, the leader, marshal of this miniature parade, fussing at all to form a line, stay in line and whatever else should happen, hold hands as they go.  Connor....the best, most beautiful, smartest, cutest, most wonderful child in the whole wide world.  Sorry...he's my grandson so of course he's those things and so much more.  I'm sure yours is too!  We smile at each other, everything else simply drops to the ground and to evaporate.  Ohhh how I love him!! I could go on and on about Connor (really...I could!).  The most startling surprise of my life was how much I adore Baby Connor!!

So...Turducken you ask?  Well...I have four little dogs who bring me joy everyday.  So....for Missy, Auggie, Tweetie and Sally, I head out to PetSmart today in search of their very favorite treat...Blue Buffalo canned food, including Turducken because nothing makes me happier than the smiles on their doggies faces!!

Have a lovely Sunday!!

Full Force Ahead

In another time, not so very long ago, I had a mini horse farm, Mountain Spring Miniatures. Life, as it tends to do, sent an earthquake into my idyllic existence, shaking everything up, leaving nothing as it once was. The barn I was once so proud of, fell into disuse, needing paint and love, among many other things. The fields, once immaculately manicured by voracious mini appetites, grew tall with weeds and brambles. Fences....oh...fences that once proudly served as butt scratchers for those it kept safe, fell, rusted and broke.

Several years passed. Each spring as the peeps began their song down at the pond, the birds began to schweet, schweet and the sun warmed chilly winter souls, my heart yearned for mare stare and brand new lives to nurture and love. Sadly, I would shove such yearnings way down deep, turning my gaze away from the once beloved barn, ignoring the state of the fences, the growing weeds, continuing on with my less than idyllic life. My soul grew rusty along with the fences, was tangled and choked with weeds. My eyes grew dimmer without foals to charm them. My head was downcast not seeing the sun, refusing to hear the birds and peeps.

Several years passed and....the ghosts of horses who once blessed my life with their mere prescence, Raven, Diva, Freedom....oh Freedom, such a scamp you were, Spirit...such a beautiful soul and the many others, raised their heads as one and their beautiful eyes met mine. I couldn't ignore them. How could anyone? The yearnings, buried so deep for so long, shook me again with their exit from their tomb. They would not be denied, horses had to come back into my life. My happiness was dependent upon them. I needed them and I knew somewhere out there, there were those who needed me.

Crazy Voices?

Does anyone else ever suffer from crazy voices in your head?  Not like a serial killer wanting to kill, Kill, KILL, but those voices that sneak into your head when the house is quiet, you've gotten into bed and are ready for sleep.  Doubts and insecurities rush in spinning around madly, gleefully dancing, bouncing around in your brain like ping pong balls.  Sleep is no longer possible.  Rational thought joins the fray trying with all their might to fight off the negatives with their strength, shooting back reality at the mad dancers.  You toss and turn, searching for peace, praying for your brain to quiet, wishing for a surcease, grasping for the sleep that is ever out of reach.  The war raging in your brain seems to have no end, on and on rational thought battles against the demons of doubt and insecurity, trying to restore the equilibrium the brain yearns to find, needs, in order to sleep.  Exhaustion marches onto the field. more tired and crankier than usual, to put it's foot down, ending the war.  Each are commanded back to their own corners, doubt and insecurity assuring rational thought that they will be back to battle another night, but for now, peace reigns, the brain relaxes and sleep finally comes.

Where Did The Time Go??

With an "I'm outta here!" and the slam of the door, it begins.  The little bird, testing her wings, dives to parts unknown, pinwheeling wings trying in vain to stop the inevitable crash onto the hard cold ground.  Mother bird cries out to her young that it's too soon, she's too young, pleading to her to wait, just wait a while longer until her wings, her still fragile wings can support her.  Her daughter, incapable of listening, plummets to the ground, feathers flying furiously as she descends and descends and descends until finally, all movement stops.  Lying in the dirt, her mother out of reach far above her, she creeps away certain that her way is best.  Her mother cries.

Or...there's no furious slam of any door.  There are gentle and loving cracks in the tie that has always and forever held them together.  Heartache and loss intermingle with pride and love.  Mother bird knowing that small steps of separation are necessary for her little bird to successfully fly, but still feeling the loss, the pain, every tiny crack  in the tie like a knife slicing into her heart.  She sighs and turns away to wipe the tears from her face.  Her baby bird begins to test her wings, growing stronger and more confident with each flap.  Her mother smiles.

Congratulations, Bethany!!

Once you become a mother, there are milestones in your child's life that are celebrated.....their first word, learning to walk, learning (finally) to use the potty (many high fives!), first day of kindergarten, high school, getting their driver's license and...high school graduation.  My youngest daughter graduated from high school last night.  Wow.  Yes, of course, I am very proud of her.  She climbed over many obstacles to get to this point.  It wasn't easy for her or me and although, at times, there were doubts, she made it!!  She did it!!  My baby girl stumbled through mine fields, gasped for her very breath after bursting out of the ocean, drowning, then not,  tripped through fire and came out alive on the other side. She's stronger now and I'm thankful and blessed that she's still here.  It's been quite a ride from her first breath to her graduation from high school.  Congratulations, Bethany!!  You've made me one very proud mom!!  I am so very thankful that I was there through the times that took my breath away and those that ripped the very heart out of me.  I wouldn't trade one single second of our time together.  Those many seconds added up to create the lovely young lady you've become and maybe, just maybe contributed to the many grey hairs on my head!!  Your whole life is ahead of you now.  Enjoy it, love it, embrace it, live it to it's fullest, be grateful for the small things that make you smile, forget the small things that irk you and that just won't matter in 10 years, believe in yourself and your ability to do anything you set your mind to as I've seen you overcome terrible things and come through the other side intact and ever stronger.  Remember.....I will always be your greatest fan, will always be on the sidelines rooting you on,  loving you with my whole heart, forever and for always, believing, always and forever believing that you can do anything, anything you want to do.  I Love You, Bethany and I could not be any prouder of you!!!

Have Hope...

I wrote the following a few years ago when I was in a dark place.  It was amazing to reread these pieces and realize that I no longer have the pain and angst within me that I had when these were written.  For those of you wandering through your own dark places, don't give up and remember.....it does get better.

baring her soul, opening it to expose all her failings, all her fears, allowing him in, the first ever to enter the forest of her soul...the tangled vines, the twisted malformed trees, the perpetual darkness.  his light, shining in, exposing every crack and crevice, nothing hidden from his view...shrinking back in fear...the light is foreign to this place, too bright, too sudden...forcing him back, afraid for him to see who she truly is, afraid she won't be accepted, wanted...with her foibles, faults and failures.but still he waits....peering in from just outside..never forcing himself in, waiting for another invitation, for her to feel safe, to trust, to believe that he means no harm with his bright light.  he only wants to brighten the dark corners, to clear out the refuse built up over many, many years, to cleanse her, to help her be who she can be.

but she....she also waits...she watches, she gauges, she studies and mulls it over.  can the light be trusted? it's so very bright.....but insistent, never relenting, never retracting.  she peeks out from her hiding place in the mess of her soul...she yearns for the brightness, she steps forward and then suddenly darts back....wanting, but tentative, still fearful, but.....the fear is subsiding as the light slowly moves back and forth, back and forth, bathing her in it's glow.  she waits in her darkness.....for what, she doesn't know....but she wonders and wants and wishes......does she dare take the hand that is offered?

***********************************************************************

she wanders alone in the desert landscape of her mind.....the winds ferocious, the sand whipping every direction, cutting into her, beating her down, head and body bowed down in an effort to protect herself,  wrapping her wounds, pain and past regrets tighter around her, but she finds no relief and the winds and sand persist in tormenting her.  she looks for direction, seeks out shelter, but none is to be found.  she swirls around and around mimicking the wind, fighting the sand, collapsing to the ground in exhaustion and defeat.
*********************************************************************************

she wanders alone in a hostile, cold and dark landscape.  nothing but emptiness surrounds her, envelops her.  it embraces her as a lover would, but the embrace is devoid of warmth, love and tenderness.  instead, the passion felt is of her soul, heart and mind being sucked dry, stolen by the thief who ever lurks nearby.  in return, this thief, fills her with loneliness, pain, doubt and anger.  gone is the purity of her soul, gone is the love in her heart, gone is the goodness she once possessed in such abundance.  all gone.

as what was once her, falls to the ground in defeat and unrelenting pain, unable to even move her eyes, a light shines upon her.  this warm glow bathes her in warmth and begins to ever so slowly thaw the frigid places within.  the thief, angered and frustrated by this light that is casting out his work. tries to fight it's glow and warmth, but is forced back and back some more until she is unreachable to him.

she feels small glimmers of hope, peace and love return to her as the light unceasingly caresses, soothes and wraps her more tightly within it's embrace.  the warmth and caring are restored to her heart, mind and soul.  she rises from the cold barren ground and.....smiles.

The Sun Is Waiting....
